ANVAM Donation 2026

Hi Tanja and ANVAM team! Due to email having image/size limitations from 1999 still to this day, I will document what I have available for donation on an unlisted page on my website!

I hope FOVA was a huge success and just want to give my thanks once again for supporting my work all the way back in 2013 and beyond. I am trying to downsize considerably and I feel that many of these works may be better loved and appreciated at ANVAM. I understand space may also be a premium there, but I hope some of these works can be of interest.

This would of course be a donation, and I could not ask for any financial support unless it was to maybe help freight down – but I will leave that in your teams’ hands. I really just want these works to sit with a place where I think they would be a good fit.

I will break down what is available by year/body of work. Some of the working drawings I am offering are already uploaded to my website so in those instances – I will provide a link.

2013 PTSD: Post-Traumatic Shoaling Disorder

  • Printed A4 acetate of digital collages that were made for this series I started drawing above. Idea was to compile a multitude of faces from East Timor and a Soldier. Was experimenting with the notion of morality and how our understanding of that/saviour/other might shift based on differing perspectives.
  • PTSD Post Traumatic Shoaling Disorder Book. This was a book I made to accompany the painting series. I could have sworn I sent one of these down to ANVAM already, but you said you could not find it. Either way, there was only three made. It features excerpts from a medical report on my father written in my own handwriting.
  • Catalogue Proofs from Exhibition/I may even have a catalogue somewhere?…Both on A3 Satin artboard/card from the printers.
  • The date of these guys might be a bit later but, I made them for something I did at Lismore Regional Gallery I think. I’m pretty sure Michael Christofas(?) also photographed me with them for the Persona Project but…want my lil fish soldier men? The big ones. I can only find three – crouching fish I think was lost to decapitation and I didn’t like the sculpt I did for the head so binned it.

2014 FIGHT//FLIGHT Honours Series

All dimensions are in cm and follow the format of HxW. Some of these drawings became paintings in the final series whereas others were early explorations. I believe you have a copy of my exegesis and I think all of the working drawings are in there.

  • 50×75:

  • 50×35.5:

  • 50×35:
  • 35×50:
  • 38×57:
  • 26×50:
  • There is actually another drawing here of a revised fish headed soldier. Its dimensions are 50×35 (I wrote all the dims down on a sheet of paper when I was downstairs) and I am realising now on my phone that the photo I took of it is gone…In any case very similar to the ones from 2013. I’ll grab you a photo if you need – or you can treat it as a surprise haha.
  • There are also three prints that I had photos of. They are of the screen printed images from the inside and front cover of my exegesis. The bottom layer is black on warm white paper and features the medical report on the inside cover. On top of that is the diving jet and diving gannet motif from the front cover of the exegesis printed on orange. Their dimensions are 35×25

2016 Working Drawings for Lismore Regional Gallery Show (Which was later reworked into ‘Lay Down Your Swords’)

Two working drawings that were a departure from the 2014 show, echoing the same foggy ambiguity of stealth planes hovering like angelic horrors amongst the rural agricultural landscape of my childhood. They were sealed with binder medium which I realise now gave them a tacky finish. One has stuck to my storage folio and damaged the work (top work).

Both Images are 28×38 (HxW in cm)

2019 Princeon

All works are up for grabs EXCEPT for: 4x, Going Back & When I grow up I want to fly planes II. Although some of these works may not evoke an ANVAM quality or subject matter, there are undertones of the concept of epigenetics (Or I was thinking about this a lot when making the works). My grandfather (Dad’s side) was a young man when Nazis invaded Norway in WWII so was casting my mind back to spectres of planes flying overhead just out of sight – most visible in April 9 and Unassumed.

2022 Brisbane City, We Are Not Being Bombed

All works from this series are available! They are all very small works on board. See me for scale:

That is all I have so far! Please reach out with any questions or needing further info/images 🙂

Best,

Kate Hallen
